A friend of mine just had a baby so DP and I started hashing out name hypotheticals again. So, just in the interests of conducting an experiment (to prove that I have superior taste) please rank the names in contention.
DS is Adam John (family name on my side) [DP's last name] For the boys: Ben Benjamin Jonah Duncan Luke James Possible MNs: Alexander Oswald (DP's family name) William (DP's family name) John (again... Is that too weird?) Johan (my family name) For the girls: Hannah Sarah Amy Kate Possible MNs: Amy (DP's family name) Teresa (DP's family name) Lucia (my family name) Johanna (feminine version my family name) Also, DP reckons all kids should get his last name, so my argument is I should be able to use a family name as a MN. Hit me! |

I only like Jonah from the boy list but I like it a lot. Can't wangle Johan as a MN for it. Alexander doesn't go with it either, so Jonah William. Johan would be a great first name IMO.
All the other names would go with either Alexander or Johan. My rankings would be: 1. Jonah 2. Duncan 3. Luke 4. Benjamin 5. Ben 6. James I only like Hannah for the girls. Hannah Lucia. Johanna would fit with the others and again would make a lovely first name. My rankings: 1. Hannah 2. Amy 3. Kate 4. Sarah |

In order:
1. James 2. Jonah 3. Benjamin 4. Luke (Lucas would be higher than Benjamin, Luca would top the list) 5. Ben (Bennett would op the list as well) 6. Duncan MN would depend on the FN but purely on aesthetic: 1. William 2. Alexander 3. Johan 4. John (I wouldn't repeat mNs) 5. Oswald 1. Amy 2. Hannah 3. Kate (Katherine would be the same rank but Katrina would be top of the list) 4. Sarah 1. Amy 2. Lucia 3. Johanna 4. Teresa And FTR I'm not a fan of one party to the relationship forcing the other to use a name they dislike - that goes for surname and use of a family MN. |
