Hello everyone and HELP!!!!! ,

My DF and I are expecting #1 in May this year. We have no idea what type of pram to get. We have a Statesman (holden) which has a reasonable boot space. However, our major worry/ concern is my DF was in a car accident a few years back and sustained major lower back injuries. He has to walk with the aid of a stick and his balance isn't the best. So we need a pram that's relatively light weight, easy to fold/ unfold, that will suit a newborn (full recline position) that will have baby quiet high up (DF wont be able to bend down low to pick bubs up/out), easy to steer and monuver, lock both brakes with one foot and MUST be sturdy in the worst case event DF's back/leg starts to give way etc. The only other thing is we both prefer the four wheelers to the three wheelers.

Ideally I would like a pram that comes with everything included: rain cover. boot cover (the sock like thing that slides over the seat for added warmth), the sunshade protection thing (looks like shade cloth)drink holder, decent basket, etc.

Budget - $600 - $700 unless you can suggest something that total ticks all my boxes - lol.

Anyone have any suggestions?

the only pram i know of that is relatively higher is the stokke (however it's spelt.. ) but i don't know a thing about how they fold etc. downside is they are very very pricey.

i think a baby jogger city mini would be the easiest to use. it has a one hand fold. so you can fold it up with one hand and it's light too.

best thing to do is go to a major baby store and try different things out. other than that, i think a strider compact might sit a bit higher but may be a little fiddly to close up for you df.

best if he tries them out.

I'd head for a large Baby store & try a few out, much easier to choose that way.

Have a look at the uppababy alta, known as the uppababy cruz in the US. the seat is not as high as the xplory, but it's relatively high. The pram is a 4 wheeler, quite light, and the frame is well balanced. 1 foot brake controls the wheels. There's an infant insert you can buy - if you do that and choose not to get the optional bassinet it will be within your budget.
It's the pram i intend to buy shortly for my baby, also due in may.

For another similar stroller to the Stokke that has bub quite high but less pricey check out the Silver cross surf. It's mostly sold with a parasol, foot muff, winter cosy, rain shade etc. for around $800.00 so still over your budget but definitely less than the Stokke

Thanks heaps Ladies. DF and I are now going to compare the BJSV to the strider compact. Both seem to have the same features. The only thing I have noticed is that with the BJSV you have to buy all the extras where as the strider comes with it all. So we're heading back to the shops for more testing. Just makes DF's day very uncomfortable.

We have the Silver Cross Surf & will be using it soon! Let me know if the other options don't pan out and if I can give you any info about the Silver Cross Surf that will be helpful.

For really light weight and easy to fold, I would definitely check out the combi range. They go flat for newborns too. A friend has one and her little guy snoozes in it really well.
