Poor Silly Women...

Why is there a picture of Penny Wong with the story and not JG or QB?

Should i direct my outrage at the ABS, the news site or men first?

Because the report suggests that women are attracted to the Senate because they don't have the confidence to be PM - Penny Wong is a senator. Seems a sensible picture to me.

Not sure if I agree with the rest of it, but yeah, sensible picture.

I think that the headline is negative, narrow, uninspired and works to further erode the confidence of women and doesn't reflect accurately the actual ABS Data or the article itself.
Sure, a negative title such as this will attract attention but for all the wrong reasons imo.

Pffft, some men don't have the confidence to lead either. What a stupid article.

However... I did read somewhere, as a teenager, than women will agree to give something a go if they are 80% sure they can successfully complete it. Men will give it a crack at 50% confidence. I have no idea where that came from, it's research methods, or factual correctness, but I do know when I was working in a male dominated environment and found myself wondering if I should give something a try, I consciously used 50% certainy as my benchmark. It served me very well.

What a load of BS. I think it is a slow news day and nothing stirs the pot than a whole bunch of sexist subjective statistics. Men are not that much better IMO.

I thought it was opinion that women ran for the Senate because it was easier - in which case one might point to our female PM?

The title is just irritating, no doubt on purpose.

Sorry for the delayed response - my internet seized up for some reason my ISP can't explain.

It's all right there in the first word of the article.

SOME women don't have what it takes to lead. Neither do some men.

DH and I would both make crappy PMs. He'd try to please everyone and would end up pleasing nobody. I'd get so p*ssed off with the waffling that I'd smite people with my newly minted Sword of Office.

Vote 1 Manatee.

I like the cut of your jib manatee. I would also be cutting people off mid sentence and wielding my sword of office...
I think some humans are not capable of leadership. What's between their legs doesn't make a difference IMO.

On a side note, why isn't Penny Wong in the lower House? She's one of the best things about the current government.

I'd vote for her in a heartbeat.

Rampant misogny from Limited News? Surely not!

Predictably they can't interpret data for sh*t. But then the motto is don't let the facts get in the way of a good woman bash.
