Hi

I have a girl and 2 boys so the girl thing is new to me. Before starting solids in the last two weeks I would just wipe back to front on the outside of her vagina (labia?). Since starting solids her poo's have become massive and more solid and some has gone inside so I've had to open and wipe inside. Is it ok to use a wipe or should I use a cotton ball and warm water? Should I bath her afterwards or can she wait till her evening bath? I've heard so much about UTI's so want to do what I can to keep her clean.

Thanks original.gif

Make sure you wipe front back, not back to front!

I thought you must have :-) I know what you mean, though, after a baby boy I found a
girl much more complicated. If the poo was really everywhere, I did a bath. Otherwise just used wipes.

Mum of girls
I've got 2 DD's and only used cotton wool and water for the first week or two, after that it was baby wipes all the way. Wiping front to back, and yes, inside all the folds and nooks and crannies. For a poo explosion, I usually bathed them immediately, but otherwise just wipes did the trick.
And I didn't even bath them every day (still don't) due to eczema.

We've always used unscented, dye-free wipes on all her bits and bathed only if there was a poo-splosion or it was her normal bath time. She's never had a UTI. She's only ever even had diaper rash maybe 3 times and those were during illnesses and a massive heatwave.

If she was really grotty with poo everywhere, I used a warm wet facewasher - seemed to clean better than wipes.

I've just wiped everything thoroughly with fragrance free baby wipes. It can be quite gross having to clean poo out of DD's vagina, but I just use a baby wipe. I figure that she'll pee again soon enough and "wash" the area clean, and flush out any bacteria that might be in the urethra.

No UTIs so far. DD is 3yo.

It's just something to get used to. Having three girls, I can't imagine changing a boys nappy!!! I wouldn't know what to do!!
