I think it's yet another ho-hum cooking reality show. Not particularly drawn to it.

Have no idea who the hosts are.

I was waiting for it to turn up - 'The Great British Bake Off' has been highly successful in the UK.

I know one of the contestants in the show, I can't wait to see him in action! He is very talented and his creations are gorgeous.

I'm on the fence about the hosts but I think the judges are perfect. Both Kerry Vincent and Dan Lepard are huge in the industry and very well respected. Kerry does a lot of tv in the US and Dan (Australian born but based in the UK) was originally supposed to be a judge on the original UK series but they decided to go with someone British. I'm a fan of Paul Hollywood too (the UK judge they went with) but I'm pleased Dan is getting his chance now.

The British series is insanely successful and I hope the show has the same success here. The put out fabulous cookbooks with each series and I bake from each of them. Dan Lepard's scone recipe is awesome too. I can't wait for the show to start although Anna Gare (the female host) irritates me on every show she's on...

I loved the UK show, but it had great judges who were polite and friendly while still providing a good critique, and the show wasn't like other 'reality' shows where they make it more about the personalities of the contestants.

I have seen one ad for the Australian version and have already decided to avoid it.

The British original is fantastic for the following reasons:

- really entertaining hosts: comics who have worked together long term and have great rapport
- fantastic judges who are honest and tough without being mean
- informative entertaining segments about the history of whatever baked item is being cooked eg Cornish Pastie
- no manufactured drama (eg 24 hour challenges, team challenges) the show believes that there is inherent drama in baking and nothing else is needed
- good combination of challenge formats: contestants bake their own version of a quiche vs follow this recipe for Victoria Sponge. All follow-recipe challenges judged blind!
- supplied recipe challenges are incomplete so contestants need to have good general knowledge to know things like cooking times and temperatures. They aren't spoon-fed
- well cast diverse contestants who are there for skill rather than looks, famewhoredom, or potential for antagonistic drama
- all eliminations done by judges, no contestant voting. And elimination based on combination of success over two challenges - so less chance of being dumped based on one bad incident

I honestly doubt that these aspects which make the the British version so enjoyable IMO will be transferred. But I'll give it a go.

Totally agree with this. I love the British version, but the I love the British version of Masterchef and have never watched a series here because of the differences.

I'll watch it but as usual I think the Brit's will outdo us!

I love drama. It's so dramatic.

Same. The woman's dimples annoy me for some reason. There isn't even anything she can do about that ddoh.gif

I have a connection to one of the contestants so will probably watch it.
