So many people have told me that wearing heels is dangerous whilst pregnant. Is this true?
I am 13 weeks along, and an avid wearing of all things high heeled! I am finding though, that my hips are hurting at the end of the day, so I may have to admit defeat and put the heels into lockdown for a while.... BUT, as my wonderful husband points out, I have an excuse to go buy LOTS of pretty new flats!!!! |

My doctor told me off one day for wearing heels when pregnant as if you fall you can cause the placenta to pull away from the uterus which is dangerous! It is only 9 months

I've still worn heels and wedges no where near as much maybe once or twice a week. I don't wear them for as long, ie I will wear thongs into work and if I walk around the area I work at lunch I will sometimes change into thongs due to tram tracks.
I haven't seen any difference in my legs hurting, restlessness, cramps etc if I have worn higher shoes or not. Clearly I am wearing the lower ones not my massive pumps or anything. |

Your body will tell you when to give them up - because it hurts so much more (than normal)! Since having kids, I sometimes wear heels, but not as high as I used to. Not practical when carrying kids around either .... This post has been edited by YodaTheWrinkledOne: 26/02/2013, 03:34 PM |

I stopped wearing heels at 20 weeks. My midwife told me off. I was a bit devo because I adored all my high heels. They are now a thing of the past, except special occasions. Now I have many many awesome flats. Really lots

I havent heard that it is 'dangerous' just more for the comfort factor i thought.
I wear flats or small wedges at work, except for client meetings when i wear heels (there will always be some lady to tell me off though) I'm MOH in a wedding in 2 weeks (will be 30 weeks pg) and will be wearing 12cm stilettos, i have worded up the best man he will need to hold me up by end of day! |

I'm six months pregnant and wear high heels to work four days a week, plus sometimes on the weekend. I get a lot of surprised comments, but my back actually hurts more at the end of the days that I wear flats. I feel fine right now as I'm not large enough to be off balance. I'll stop as soon as it becomes uncomfortable or my balance is affected though. |

I wore heels at work and socially all the way through my pregnancy, although I admit that I probably did have some lazy/daggy days where I wore my flats.
I wasn't uncomfortable or unbalanced in heels (although I did take extra care on stairs), so I was happy to trot around in my heels at work. It made me feel good!! Ignore everyone, just do what works for you. |
