hi,

i started givingsolids to my boy recently. he had tried pumpkin mash, sweet potato mash and rice cereal in different days ( only one food each time, about 1 tsp; about 2tsp for rice cereal, only once in a day ). he is nearly 4.5 months.

today, i found some food leftover/ residue in his poo/ nappy --sth orange. not sure if it's pumpkin/ sweet potato. is that normal?

other than that, i found he doesn't have much reaction to the solid.

he has expressed milk n i found his poo thicker ( this should be ok as the bk said)

tks.

I used to find peas and sweet corn (not mushed up) in my sons nappy, he never seem to be affected by any problems

It's perfectly normal for babies to pass undigested solids in their poo.

I can often tell the contents of my baby's meals the day before!

Just be glad you didn't find an eye in there like I did the other day! Tounge1.gif

DS's is usually full of beans, chick peas, corn, sultanas. Many are whole, some partially digested. He eats a lot of berries too, but no technicolour poop here yet lol.

When I started adding bits of finely diced carrots and sweet potato to my bub's puréed they went right through him and still do at 11 months. I give him a mini box of sultanas sometimes too (great to distract him for a while) and they come out whole as well, it's pretty weird to see because they sultanas have puffed up a bit in his stomach. When I give him meals that have diced zucchini in them I think that the skin goes straight through. It amazing what their poo can contain.
