All Mustelidae wrangled. Except badgers. Drama llamas by appt.
I'm a little surprised that no other EB fembo has started a topic on this yet (or maybe I just missed it) - but what do others think about Seth Macfarlane's hosting of the Oscars?

My chosen title makes it pretty clear what my thoughts on the subject are. I was really disappointed to see such juvenile, boys club type humour. The "We saw your boobs" song was just vomit-worthy.

This article sums up how I feel pretty well. What do others think?

Why bother?

I predict responses of "he was joking" and "not another thread hating men" and I'm not psychic.

Mum to two boys!! :O
I commented to DH last night about the sexism in the ceremony.

I was quite stunned at that boobs item too. It was SO juvenile and ridiculous and really seemed to put all the talented female actresses he referred to on notice that their contribution was never going to be taken seriously.

I really, really disliked Seth Macfarlane's hosting style on the whole, sexist comments just one of the reasons.

I also thought the 007 thing was dodgy with Halle Berry commenting on how it had "Pussy galore" and then showing the montage including many questionable (but not out of place for the times) scenes.

I was just reading the article. I didn't watch.

Really I'm not surprised. He's the writer of Family Guy right?

Yes antisemitic too and that crack about Abraham Lincoln's assassination was just plain terrible.

Exactly, and 'Ted', I actually thought he would be more offensive.

I really struggle with Seth Macfarlane. He is just so hit and miss for me, I'm really not easily offended, and will openly laugh at some of his work, and some of it feel just wrong.

Most of the time I feel like he's baiting people. And it works.

What fresh hell is this?
I don't tend to watch the Oscars as I have zero interest in the majority of the films up for awards. But having read that article, I will say that I thought they could have done better. FFS, its' the 21 century and really, making comments about Jodie Fosters tits as seen in The Accused is really quite foul and misogynistic.
