Do you think of Ashley as more of a boys name... or a girls name??

I see Ashley as a boy's name and Ashleigh as a girl's name. I don't like all the other spelling options.

My automatic reaction is girl (my sisters name) but I also went out with a male Ashley.
For me it's an 'either' name, despite my automatic reaction |

I went to school with a male Ashley so it has stuck in my brain as a boy's name.

I can never get Scarlette O'Hara (Gone with the Wind) out of my head" (put on Southern accent and repeat) "Ashley, oh Ashley". He was a pretty useless male in the story, and it's even worse to give a girl a "failed" man's name.
