Exmouth WA, What are the options?

Hello, My family and I are moving to Exmouth from Perth for DHs work. We are planning on baby number 2 up there, but from everything I have found, you can't birth at the hospital there? How is the care handled then? Eg antenatal appointments, ultrasounds etc? Would I need to travel to Karratha? I'd also be aiming for a VBAC, so I'd assume I'd need to go to a hospital that could cater for that? I'm rhesus neg too and had to have anti d for bleeding in my last pregnancy quite a few times, so I'm worried that I won't be able to access the care needed? Any info would be great! TIA

Hi there! I am currently 20 weeks with our first and am living in Exmouth. You're right about not being able to deliver here - you have to leave by 36 weeks (if flying). I am heading back to SA to my parents so we don't have to pay for accommodation in Port Headland, Karratha or Perth. As for the care here - there is a midwife at the hospital who I am currently seeing every 4 weeks. If you need any extra care, you would see one of the GP's. We were able to have our dating scan and 20 week scan here, but I'm not sure about the NT scan - I think it depends if there is someone trained in them in town at the time. I had mine done back home in SA. After bubs is born there is a childrens clinic that is run for all their checks. Hope this helps

Hi there! Thank you so much! This info is incredibly helpful! I haven't been able to find anything online or anywhere as to how it works! So, pretty much I'd just come back to Perth for scans and to have the baby then assuming there weren't any issues? If you're happy to, I'd love to meet up with you. We are moving in 3 weeks!
