Hello girls,

I experienced my first MC with my first pregnancy last Tuesday.

I had blood clots in my uterus - and had two big bleeds in the 11 weeks - but both times the baby was fine. Scan showed the baby size and my dates were "perfect" and it's heartbeat was "perfect" at 170 - but I MC 4 days after hearing those words "perfect" from my ob-gyn. I'll be changing ob-gyn next time. I know it's not her fault - but can't help but feel anger. As if there was something she could have foreseen.

It was the most painful experience of my life - I eventually got relief from the ambulance and MC in hospital soon after and feel quite heartbroken. I never knew it could be as painful as it was. I quite seriously thought I would die or pass out. Strangely I never thought I was MC... I assumed it was just another bad clot wanting to pass.

Anyway...

I wanted to jump onto this forum to read other stories - and have been surprised to read that it's taken some girls months for their cycle to return to normal. Is that fairly standard?? I was told I could try again after I'd had one normal period - but your stories on this thread are leaving me thinking it might take many months before my cycle is normal. What can I expect? Perhaps I should start again straight away instead of waiting??

Look forward to hearing yr thoughts.

So sorry for your loss, the early days after a mc are tough. I hope that you are taking it easy and being kind to yourself.

TBH I really think that is does vary for alot of people how long it takes to conceive after a mc. Some it can take months some fall pregnant straight away.

I think it is basically up to you when you start to try again. If the doctors have given you the all clear health wise to try then I would say go for it. I think the main reason why they say wait until after your next period is so they can have accurate dates of when your lmp and therefore have a more accurate edd.

Good luck OP original.gif

Hi there, Firstly I am so very sorry for your loss. I cannot even imagine what it must have been like for you. I can only try to imagine given how i felt when I had mine.

I did not wait until I had my first AF and I had a chemical pregnancy straight away and for me I wish I had waited until I got my first AF to try again. It really messed with my head doing a million OPK tests commencing days after my MC. I became obsessed with ttc again. Mentally I would have coped better after waiting for my first AF I think.

I got AF 35 days after my MC so hopefully you will be as lucky too.

I say do what you think is right for you but my advice would be to wait that one cycle just because of my own experience.

I wish you the very best getting a BFP soon

Sorry to hear you are going through a similar situation to me. I wish it wasn't so common and that people spoke about it more so I don't feel so alone. Thanks for sharing your experience.
I am new to these forums and I was hoping someone could tell me what AF stands for?

So sorry for your loss.
I had a lost at 11wks5days in April last year. I had to have a d&c though. AF returned about 35 days after the d&c.
I was advised to wait 3 cycles before trying again but I felt ready after 2 cycles.
Best of luck for when you decide to try again, I hope you get a sticky baby soon.

Thanks for the messages girls. I guess every baby, pregnancy and MC is so unique. I'll speak with my Doc this week and see what my body does. I guess my body will decide for me.

Penguin9 = I too don't know what AF stands for.... can anyone tell us?

AF I believe stands for aunty flow, in other words your period! I could be wrong though! I also had a miscarriage at 11 weeks about 10 years ago. I don't remember when I got my period back but my miscarriage was in April and my dd was born the next October so it took me about 9 months to get pregnant again. We started trying straight after first period. My case was different to yours in that I already had two children before my miscarriage.
I hope you are able to go on quickly to have the family you want and I am very sorry for your loss.

So sorry for your loss Sept Baby.

If you had a D&C that can affect how long it takes your cycle to return. I've m/c twice, after my D&C it took 6+months for a cycle to return. After a more natural m/c (misoprotol sp? only) my cycle returned like clockwork - I was actually still bleeding from the m/c at the time too.

Of course every body is different, your hormones will play a part, and it's your first pregnancy - your body may take a little longer to adjust.

It's a hard realisation that we have so little control over our bodies in this particular way. sad.gif

Take care of yourself.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I also lost a baby at 11 weeks late last year. It is a difficult and heart breaking experience. It can take a long time to get over it and some days are better than others. my cycle took about 35 days to return after the MC and we are TTC again now.

If you feel up to it join us in the TTC #1 after Miscarriage #40 group. Although we are always sad that people come to the group as we hate to see anyone go through that, everyone is very supportive and understands how you feel.

Also AF- means Aunt Flo (your period)

Take care of yourself.
