I was so excited about finally getting a petrol garden edger, I put the oil in the petrol tank. I knew as I was doing it that it wasn’t right, yet continued to pour the full 375ml into the petrol tank. I wasn’t even distracted, just having a stoopid moment.
When the penny dropped, we tipped it over and poured out as much of the oil as possible. Yet the manual instructs the owner to put some oil in the petrol tank after draining if the edger is to be stored for a period. Needless to say, it won’t start. It’s a four stroke. Is there anyone mechanically minded who can suggest what else we should do before we have to get someone to have a look at it? |

I've got memories of using the wrong fuel in our lawnmower and it smoked terribly for a while but settled eventually.
I don't know anything about edgers, is it anything like a mower in that you need to open a valve and prime it first by pushing a rubber nipple thing? If so I'd open the valve and try and let the oil bleed out. I'd be trying to put 4 stroke petrol through it and letting it bleed through for a bit. I may be talking out my a*se though as DH does everything with the edger at our house LOL. |

Change the spark plug or clean the jets out in the Carby as it probably is gummed up.

If it doesn't work, take it to a repair place. I think DH's was pretty reasonable to be repaired.

I think if you do a few petrol changes it should clear it out.

Hi', the main issue you will have is if you have primed the carby with only oil in the fuel tank, because that means you have sucked oil into carby.
If not fuel it up and prime follow starting procedures and it should be all good. If you have primed ,unfortunatley the carby will need pulling down. Are you sure it is a. 4 stroke unit? Hope this helps |

Thanks. Yes, it's 4 stroke.
How do I know if I primed the carby? I put petrol in after emptying out the oil, filled the oil tank, and then followed the starting procedure. Does that mean I primed it. |
