I don't mind it. Probably prefer it as a NN to Olivia.

Popeyes wife yes. But that's our generation and before. I doubt kids these days would know that.

I don't love it, buy don't hate it either. I've chosen a name of similar vintage if this one is a girl.

I know three little girls called Olive - one is 13 months, one is 6 and the third is about 9. All are delightful!

At first I thought the name was a bit harsh, but it has really grown on me after knowing these three gorgeous Olives. Nn can be Livvie or Ollie. And it is less popular than Olivia, which may be a selling point.

I think Olive Oyl ( Popeye's girlfriend) is a bit dated now anyway.

I'm sorry OP honestly I don't like it very much.

I'm not sure why. I just find it a bit harsh sounding and I guess I think of the fruit which is sort of bitter, an acquired taste.

Use it if you love it though.

Whilst I don't love Olive I like it. I like it much better than Olivia.

I think it has a sweet, vintage-ness to it that I find kind of adorable.

Olivia is pretty and Olive is quirky. Olive doesn't particularly make me think Popeye, but I've known women named Olive - older women mostly so I just think of it as retro-chic a la Hazel or Esther. Olive is neither my favourite nor least favourite of the granny-chic genre.

Incidentally, my grandmother's BFF for decades and decades was an Olive.

Livia and Opal could be other options?
