We need a car that seats 6 and have found Chrysler to be in our price range. Anyone who owns a grand voyager, would you recommend it?

In a word NO!

They are very expensive to service -need their own brand of everything - all of which comes from the US and is very expensive.
Lots of things go wrong with them - mechanically they are a nightmare and once they hit about 90 000km they are a ticking time bomb - All of them have issues with simple things like ceiling upholstory coming unglued, ongoing stereo problems, the central locking goes haywire (locked my 2 year old in the car and me out of it at soccer training one evening).
Most have issues with gearboxes, the engine seals corrode and are in impossible to check places and the next thing you know you have transmission fluid in your radiator and you need a new radiator etc . We owned one for 4 years and literally had a party the day we bought a new car.

They are listed in the Dog and Lemon guide to cars as being shockingly unreliable. I've also since talked to 4 other people who've owned various models of them and it's all been bad.

They also chew through fuel - my 4wd is more economical than the chrysler was.

That said - they are very comfortable to drive. The dual sliding doors are wonderful and I liked how roomy they were. They can also tow trailers quite happily. But I will NEVER buy one again EVER. It's not worth the tears of frustration as you have to find yet another $8k and wait without a car for parts to arrive.

All I know is that the only people I know who had one, got rid of it after a few years for all the reasons mentioned above.

Mostly, it chewed more fuel then a 747 on takeoff and they said it cost a fortune to keep roadworthy.

Have you looked at good ole Tarago's or HOnda Odessey? Have heard only good things about both.

We have one, and it's brilliant. Haven't had any of the problems pp have mentioned.

Ours is an 06 model, and we bought it 2nd hand nearly 2.5yrs ago. It is a bit costly on fuel, but we don't use it all that often. Only if we're going out with the kids (DH has a small ford Telstar which he drives everywhere incl work).

I love all the space, it's a great car. We'd buy another without hesistation.
