Hi, My Ds in nearly 8. He is quite a sensitive child, and always has been, he s very sweet. Also he is very bright and finds school quite easy and really loves the challenge of learning new things. He is my eldest and compared to my other 2 he is very different. He does need alot of stimulation, i think you d call it, as he finds simple type play not challenging enough and easily gets bored. His favourite pastime is playing his Ipod games and also computer games. I would like to get him outside to play more and have more outside time, as he s the type of child that needs the exercise, as he s not a slightly built boy.
Does anyone else have a child similar to this and do you find they need more challenging play things, to keep them occupied at home? I d love to hear youre thoughts? |

Suinds like me as a kid. I would have hated to be told to go outside and play. Incredibly unstimulating. Find him something to do with structure - sport, dance, triathlons.
Or a musical instrument. |

Thanks for youre suggestions. Yes well i was like that as a child as well, very determined and strong minded and needed lots of stimulation too. The other two will quite happily spend hours outside playing with the simplest of things, but Ds isnt interested in that at all. I was thinking of enrolling him in winter sport next term, perhaps soccer which is played every weekend and see how that goes for him.

Perhaps invite friends over? Other kids can be a motivating factor. My 9 year old is into handball at the moment & ripsticks.

I agree I had structured sport (cross country) and it fostered a love of running for the next 20 years
