Hi all,
Our little girl is 1 week old and we started using MCN's on her the day before yesterday. Today we did our first wash (apart from washing them 3 times before use) on the nappies that we simply put in a dry bucket as advised here. We put them in the wash today using a natural detergent and they have come out completely stained and not clean looking at all!! They don't smell, but they just look yellow and stained and gross.. Any advice!?!?!?! What are we doing wrong?? The organic detergent we are using is the only one we can get over here (Taiwan).. What other options do we have?? Bicarb soda maybe?? Any advice is appreciated! Thank you! |

If possible, sun dry them. It is amazing how the stains just vanish. Mine get stained if I have to use the dryer in rainy weather but one good sun dry fixes all.

Cold rinse first, LOTS of sunlight should do the trick.

Are you able to order some rockin green detergent online? (I think it is an American brand.) I soak mine in the funk green first as it gets out the ammonia smell and any stains. Then I use the rockin green detergent to wash them in. My dd is 1 1/2 and the mcn's are still perfect. I mostly sun bleach them too.

yup, the yellow thing is urea, sometimes poo thing.
it doesn't actually matter . just aesthetic. u can have that gone simply with a few hrs of sun drying. u will be amazed of the magic of sun. later, if smelly, u can add some vinegar to wash. depends on the brand of inserts, u may use fabric softener. after using it sometime, simply do the wash with baking soda'( about a scroop u normally add when u use washing powder), it will help clearing the built up of detergent on the inserts, which will lower the absorbency. |

WOW! How amazing is the sun??
We have had them outside in the sun (not direct sunlight but the closest we have) all day, and they are almost all completely white again! I am stunned!! Wow! Who would have thought it! Thanks again for all of your advice!! |
