hi,

my baby will need the soother once or twice a day, to help going to sleep. the present one is the new born one ( avent) i got from the new born pack. he began using it occassionally when he was one month old, now he is 4 months.

do i really need to get him new one(s) according to the manufacturer's " guide" when he is older?. the present one is ok, no wear n tear.

My baby used the smaller sized one until she was about 15 months! We had both types floating around and she would use either the newborn size or the 4-18 month size.

We always went up as per the manufacturers instructions. Sure it's probably a money pit, but the length got longer every time and I was super paranoid about lisps and other mouth issues..

As DD got older she didn't like the size of it and when it got too small she's spit it out. Soon as a bigger one went in, no issues.

I change DS's every four months or so, and it wasn't until I bought the first lot of new ones that I realised how 'used' his current ones were. No obvious wear and tear, just a bit 'deflated' compared to the new ones.

We do buy new ones every three months as per the instructions because even with sterilising etc, I think they get a bit gross if left longer than that.
