Can the 4 month sleep regression start early?

DS is 16 wks on Sunday and was a great night sleeper since he was born. In the last 3 wks he is no longer self settling at night (we have to rock him to sleep) and he is waking at least 6 times a night (one of those is for a feed) and needs to be resettled. Also he screams the house down when we try to get him to sleep which he never used to do. Could this be the 4 month sleep regression I have heard so much about? On the upside he is now having his day sleeps in his bed and instead of just sleeping 30 - 40 mins each nap now sometimes he will go for an hour (not much more but it is amazing why you can gy done wih an extra 10 - 20 mins sleep).

Looking at my wonder weeks chart (I use it so often that it's pinned up next to my laptop!) the grey period for the 16 week wonder week starts halfway through week 15, so it could be that. It could also be teething. Can you see any sign of that?

He has signs of teething but no teeth yet.

Maybe he's in pain. Have you tried giving him a dose of Panadol to see if it helps at all? If I can see lots of dribble, red cheeks or a finger behind chewed on, and I have an unhappy bub, I will try Panadol or Nurofen. If he calms down, it means he's teething
