Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur.
Hello all!

I'm doing an Eisteddfod performance (or 6 wacko.gif ) over the Easter weekend, and I need a bit of costume help!

For one section in particular, I'm singing a Kurt Weill song from his "World War 2 troop morale shows" period.

I would like to wear something other than the traditional "pretty dress" to give it a bit of extra flavour. It's in a fairly traditional section, so I'm already likely to be a bit askew of what everyone else is singing, but I don't want to sing left of centre repertoire in a boring old standard dress.

I've got a 1950s dress I was considering, but I want something a bit more "period" without being over the top.

What regular items from a wardrobe (or items currently in store that won't cost a fortune and I could wear again) can I put together to make the look?

I've got some knee-length officey skirts in polka dot, black with coloured artsy flowers, pink, navy, black and white panels but not really sure on whether that's the go, and if so, what to wear on top!

Hair is ear length curls.

TIA

Do you have a mid-long sleeve shirt dress? They tend to have a 40s feel. If you can do some subtle pin rolls in your hair that would also help (you've got a head start with curls!)

No sleeved dresses, and every attempt at pin-curls has been a dismal failure. My hair resists any form of curl other than its own!

It's not a "costumed" category, so i'm after more of a "feel" of the era than strictly a costume.

I've got a white peplum blouse and a black/white pencil/wiggle skirt that I'm considering with some heels and stockings?
