Apologies if this is in the wrong place, but I'm not sure here it fits.
I should be 6+3, with my second pregnancy (my first ended in mc in October 2012). But while my HCG levels are rising, my progesterone is falling and i am having brown spotting/when I wipe, with the occasional small clot (about 3mm in length).
My HCG started off doubling well:- 4 Feb (I think actually 10 DPO, as I ovulated late with a 30 day cycle): HCG 13, Prog 32-6 Feb HCG 31, Prog 26.7- 11 Feb HCG 280, no Prog tested
On 14 Feb, I started very light spotting and cramps, and saw a GP at the practice I normally go to, who referred me to the ER for bloodtests and an ultrasound. At the Er, they didnt do an ultrasound as it was too early, bu my HCG was 750. The doctor at the ER told me to go back to my GP on Monday.
On Monday, 18 Feb, HCG was 2043 but Progesterone was 17.9. My GP said to call my ob to get an earlier appointment, but the best the OB could do was 26 Feb.
Blood test on 21 Feb had HCG 3244, Prog 16.1 (so still dropping). My GP said just to wait and see my OB on 26 Feb.
My accupuncturist/Chinese herbalist has given me some "anti-miscarriage" herbs, which i wasnt going to take but I think I will as really, i cant see how they can hurt. But is there anything else I am missing/should be doing? I know the answer is probably nothing, and what will be will be, but with HCG that keeps rising (although not a quickly as it should) I just find it really hard to sit and do nothing, to wait for the miscarriage (which is basically what my GP has said I have to do).
Any thoughts?

I couldn't read and not reply. I'm so sorry you are going through this. I know the waiting and feeling of wanting to know what else can be done. Unfortunately I don't have any suggestion of what else to do.

Hi, so sorry you are going through this!
Could you ask your doctor about what he/she thinks about you using some progesterone perhaps. Or try to find an OB who can get you in straight away. Personally, I 'generally' find GP's a waste of time when it comes to things like this.
Best of luck, I hope this one sticks.

I would be asking about progesterone support pronto, and possibly Aspirin if you're getting clots. I'd be wanting to see a specialist tomorrow morning if you can somehow manage to get in somewhere (not sure how with long waits though, maybe go to emergency, although they will often do nothing...)

It sounds a lot like my miscarriage and threatened miscarriage with DS - with DS I started a higher dose of progesterone support and started on Clexane (and was already on Aspirin) and he turned out perfect - the threatened miscarriage stopped the day after I started Clexane and upped my progesterone.

I wouldn't be doing herbal remedies, but thats me. I've read that they have no effect on fertility and can actually damage chances of IVF, so not sure I'd be taking anything like that when I was already carrying a child... Again, just me.

In the mean time, rest as much as you can. Lie down, relax, don't have sex, breath deep, see if you can get into a doctor tomorrow.

I hope you have a good outcome. Good luck.

I agree. Can your DH call around first thing in the morning? I can't believe your OB wouldn't see you any earlier! My FS got me to come in 15 minutes before his normal start time, took a look via ultrasound, gave me scripts and this 15 minutes of his time saved my DS's life. I was 6 weeks pregnant when this happened. My DS is now 15 months old thanks to him.

OP, when started bleeding with a threatened m/c, my IVF specialist told me to lay down on my left hand side and stay there for a few days. Meanwhile, I had extra progesterone support (Crinone gel). Apparently the left side is the one to lay on but I was so freaked out that I can't remember why my specialist said this now! I find GP's useless for this kind of situation and when I went to the ER they told me "if it happens it happens and there's nothing to be done about this". I learned that this statement is only partially true: if you get extra prog support, perhaps asprin/clexane (for clotting issues if required) and take it easy, sometimes it'll be enough to save the pregnancy. Not always, but sometimes. Good luck, OP xoxoxo

I agree with PPs
- ring tomorrow ASAP and get an FS / OB to see you - you need progesterone support (pessaries or Crinone gel). GPs and hospital EDs are hopeless in dealing with situations like this.
- rest and take it easy

I had an experience similar to what you are describing, had progesterone support and now have a 5 yr old DS from that pregnancy.

Hi op how is everything going ?

I've had 4 pregnancys and each time have had to take progesterone pessaries.

Tbh I did loose the first 2 but only kept the 2nd 2 I'm sure because I Started the pessaries from the beginning of the pregbancy. They thought I would also loose my 2 girls but I took them 3 times a day and the girls are now 2 and 8.5 months.

Best of luck x

Thanks all for your kind thoughts.
I started bleeding more red blood on the friday and went to Emergency, where they tested hcg (but not progesterone) and did an ultrasound, which showed a sack but no heartbeat. Hcg had gone down slightly, but they said it may have just been the lab and to see my Dr the following week.
Over the weekend, there was more red blood (but never enough to do more than show when I wiped, and small clots), and I ended up seeing my OB on the monday. Unfotunately, there was a lot of blood in my uterus, and the sack was looking squished, and he said it would miscarry and to wait it out. He did agree to do tests on me to see if there is a reason, which is great, and I am going back to see him next week for the results.
I've not bled much at all really, and only minor cramps, but have lost all my pregnancy symptoms so I assume I have miscarried.
Thanks again for the support. Depending upon where this testing goes, I think I'll really push my GP to refer me to a FS.
