formula for already constipated baby

Hi all I am looking to get my 8mo DD used to some formula (she has been exclusively BF so far). However she is really constipated at the moment and on coloxyl so I'm worried that formula will on exacerbate this. I only want to give her a bottle when she wakes up at night so I can go out and do some exercise and DH can babysit. Does anyone have any recommendations? TIA

Maybe you could try stewing some prunes and giving them to her with breakfast. Pears might move things along as well.

Pears definitely worked in my household as well but in regards to the formula i think novalac make one for constipation, no idea how good it is but I'm sure I saw it in the chemist.

No issues here with Bellamy's. On the rare occasion (prior to Bellamy's) when DS would get constipated, we gave a 50:50 mix of prune juice and water in a large syringe. Works like a charm. I don't like coloxyl drops personally.

Thanks guys, I've tried prune juice and pear juice as I prefer the natural stuff too but no joy unfortunately We have constipation / bowel issues in the family, DD1 (2.5) is only just getting over hers after having chronic constipation resulting in anal fissures and other issues, so I don't want to risk this with DD2, which is why we're on coloxyl. Anyway, thanks for the formula recommendations, I will look into the Novalac one, and I have heard good things about the Bellamys so I'll look at that as well

It's frustrating. I hope you have some luck!

My sister uses Novalac Constipation formula from the chemist. It definitely helps her kids.
