I've liked the name Summer since I first heard it on OC many moons ago and also liking it more for Summer Glau after that. I've never met one in real life and didnt think it was a mainstream name at all, but according to BDM it ranked #18 in WA in 2011.

WDYT of this name?

I'm quite keen on it as a middle name I think (perhaps Phoebe Summer?)

Summer is a name that breaks nearly all my rules, but I love it. I can't help it!

I met a Sommer the other day (20s), which is also nice.

Phoebe Summer is fantastic!

I like season names so it is a winner with me. My favourite is Winter.

I love the name!

I'll show my age, but there was a character on Baywatch named summer as well. Not that it would stop me using it - it doesn't work with our surname.

I love it! I wanted to name my DD Summer, but DH didn't agree so it is her middle name instead.

I've known a few. I don't find it bad but I don't find it does anything for me.

As far as ends in -er I prefer a number of other girls' names, and as far as seasons I'd prefer Winter or Autumn.

I've heard it in real life since I was a kid so it doesn't have any particular shiny newness either, but I wouldn't find it objectionable on someone else's kid - unless it gets spelled oddly.

My 5 month old niece is Summer. Her name was inspired by the American swimmer Summer Sanders, my brother liked the sound of it and our surname has a similar sound.

It's not a name I've had on my list, but I do like it. I loved it when I was a kid, I named one of my dolls Summer.
