I'm 24 weeks pregnant. Sometimes I get sharp, stabbing pains that make me gasp and literally stop me in my tracks. It kills, but only for a few seconds, and then it either happens again a few times or goes away.
It's hard to describe where the pain is happening - I guess it's in my groin or cervix area - sort of low down beneath where my belly button is. It's just kind of in there, somewhere between my legs. But it's hard to be more specific because the pain feels internal, and not like a strained muscle. Could this be pelvic pain? I've almost certainly got a separation of the abdominal muscles from previous pregnancies (had to wear an elasticated stomach band after my first baby), so I'm wondering whether this could be causing the pains. I'm not due to see my midwife for a few weeks so I just though I'd ask if anyone had similar sounding symptoms from pelvic pain, and if so, do you have any tips to manage the condition? Thanks. |

I used to get something similar - was like I was being kicked in the cervix?

I'd say your experiencing Round Ligament Pain. I have been getting it on and off from 16 weeks. It's very painful sometimes and really does take your breath away!

Pelvic pain is joint pain, feels like your groin bone is being pried apart with a spanner, or if its in your hips it feels like a bone is close to dislocating. It sounds like your pain is more internal like cervical, or round ligament pain.
Whatever it is, hope it passes quickly for you! |

Thanks so much for your advice, everyone. I didn't think it was pelvic but I didn't know what else it could be. Now I can google round ligament pain!
Really appreciate you all taking the time to help. |
