Hi, today i went to see my Gp for my first visit, it wasnt my usual Gp, but he know my history. Since i have sadly had 3 m/c, he has written a referral for me to have a viabilty scan, in a couple of weeks time.
He wrote on the referral a viability scan, as ive had previous m/c's. He said that i'm now 5 weeks 6 days, so he said wait a couple of weeks. Otherwise if you have the scan too early, they cant see anything and Anxiety can set in, not knowing if everything is alright.

Does this sound ok or do you think i should have an earlier scan or not?

I had my dating scan at 6 weeks and was able to see the heartbeat. hheart.gif I would be surprised if 6 weeks wasnt enough for viability unless your previous losses (which I'm very sorry about) have been after the 6 week mark. Maybe he's just trying to time it right.

Best of luck and I hope everything is great when you do go original.gif

I went for an early scan and they could make out the sac but couldn't see the baby. I ended up having a perfectly normal pregnancy and healthy baby, but I was very anxious when I heard they couldn't see baby. Hope you have good news.

I had a scan at 6.5 weeks with bleeding and they did not see an embryo or a yolk sac. That 'missing' embryo is upstairs having a bath.

Wait until 8 weeks. Ultrasound is not an exact science and what you see depends on the position of the uterus, the location of implantation, the growth rate of the embryo, the body shape of the mother, the experience if the sonographer and the quality of the machine.

An embryo was not seen in my retroverted uterus with a posterior wall implantation. I'm told this is not unusual.

Wait until 7.5-8 weeks.

I had my dating scan with the baby at 6 weeks and heartbeat was there but it was slow and they were concerned. Went back at 8 weeks to 162BPM and currently 33 weeks pregnant it could just be to make sure there is a heartbeat.

Could it be because your m/c was before a certain point previously?

I think it depends how certain of your dates you are and how regular/long your cycles are.

I have regular 28 day cycles, I was certain of my dates. I've had scans at around 6.5weeks each time & had a clear heartbeat on an abdominal scan.

Whilst I know the waiting is awful I think that it is a good idea for all the reasons the PP have given.
Lots of good luck.

Thankyou for youre best wishes. I know it is hard waiting and not knowing. But i feel i should perhaps wait, even though i know the exact date of my Lmp, it also does depend on when I O'ed, and i think that was later in the 24 day cycle, as i got my Bfp quite a few days after my Af was due. So that would also make a difference to my dates.

I m just hoping everything is alright this time. I know that if i had an early scan and they couldnt see anything, i think i would be more worried than not knowing!

My previous 3 m/c were at 10 weeks, 11 1/2 weeks and 6 weeks.

I saw early heartbeats with both DD and DS (5w5d & 5w3d) but it wasn't intentional and I was meant to be 7 weeks each time. I would wait if you can because I was very lucky to see heartbeats when I did and I can imagine the stress and worry I would have felt if I had seen nothing.
