Hi there
I am so nervous this is not going to end wel......I had an ectopic last time so I went to the Ob nice and early.I was due for AF on fridayish. its normally 26 day cycle but has been 28 days at times.I thought for sure they would be able to see something today when i had a scan.No evidence of pregnancy in the womb or outside as of yet.I go back a week on monday to check it out again. He did see thickening of the uterus so its at very first stages of pregnancy.I guess i was just too early! I just wonted confirmation of it being in the right place this time.I really am so scared of another ectopic. He sent me off for bloods today.Does anyone know if blood levels are high or low if its an ectopic? TIA |

Hi OP I had my first scan at 6 weeks 2 days, I believe I had a normal 28 day cycle that month and the scan was excatly 2 weeks and 2 days since my period would be due. Even then they had to go searching for the little bugger. I was told by my GP to wait until at least 6 or 7 weeks because at 4.5 weeks (when we got the bloods back and the ref for the scan) it was likely we wouldn't see much at all until 6 weeks which would cause unnecessry stress. I know it is easier said then done, but please try not to stress to much, the thickening is a good thing!

I had a dating scan as I had no idea how pregnant I was - I knew I was either 4 or 8 weeks. I now know that First ultrasound was 4w4d and they saw nothing and started panicking about ectopic. I had HCG tested 2 days apart with perfect doubling. I was told that usually but not always, ectopics won't double. This first scan was internal at a very modern city clinic so can't blame equipment for not being able to see anything - just too early.
Went for a second scan at exactly 6 weeks but all they could see was a sac no embryo. HCG still rising and high. At 6weeks 5 days bub measuring perfectly. Recently had another scan at 12w 5days and measuring spot on and all looking good so far. OP it's just way too early to tell. Unfortunately it's just something you have to wait out - which is much easier said then done. Good luck and keep us updated. |

HCG is low if ectopic. You can get an idea of averages by day at http://www.betabase.info/
Good luck, I hope everything goes well. |

I had an ectopic in 2004. My pregnancy after that I had a scan at 6 weeks exactly and they found a little heartbeat which is now 3. Go back for another scan in a few weeks. My doctor said even if I did have another ectopic at 6 weeks they can usually tell. I can understand exactly how you are feeling, I remember that feeling so well that they couldn't find a heartbeat or anything in my womb. Yet found a mass on my tube.

My IVF clinic don't do scans prior to 6 wks 3 days, as the risk is that they won't see much, or at least not a heartbeat. If there is no pain or bleeding it is probably fine to wait til this point so you can be sure and it is so satisfying to see a little heartbeat on the screen!. Of course, if there is pain you should go back earlier.
Wishing you all the best. |

Whilst it is *possible* to see products of conception at 4.5 weeks, it is far from probable.
I understand that you are seeking confirmation that the pregnancy is in your uterus and not a tube so I truly hope you can see that on Monday - please keep in mind that the odds of seeing a heartbeat at 5 weeks are very small. |

OP I haven't had an ectopic pregnancy but I can so totally understand that in the early stages of a pregnancy you would be feeling nervous.
When it comes to ectopic pregnancies if you have had one does it make it a higher probability that you can have another one? Wishing you all the very best of luck for this pregnancy OP, hopefully you will be able to post some good news soon |

Thank you for the replies ladies.... I feel much better hearing your stories. Just have to wait a week and a half I guess! Hopefully no pain in the mean time! Can't loose this tube it's my last one...... Yes it is a higher chance of another ectopic. 30% my ob told me.
I know a few ladies who have had an ectopic and never had another so hopefully I'm the same! Ill let you know the outcome Thanks again |
