Wow indeed. Gorgeous little guys! I didn't even know it was possible to have two sets of twins, I would have assumed they'd be classed as quadruplets. You learn something new every day! happy.gif

Amazing! Good luck to them original.gif

ETA

I would have thought they would have been considered quads too. Does that mean the two boy, one girl triplets I know are actually twins and a singleton?

2 different placentas with 2 babies attached to each. Yep 2 sets of twins, but I would also have thought it would be quadruplets as well.

Same! I thought 4 babies = quads, 3 = triplets etc.

Hope mum and the little ones are doing well.

It's a bit of a media beat up.

Does that mean fraternal twins with 2 placentas are really 2 singletons? No...

My understanding would be that yes they are quads but they are also 2 sets of identical twins and the twin sets would be fraternal twins to each other. Does that sound right? 2 babies with separate placentas would just be fraternal twins.

I think the especially miraculous part is, from what I know, babies who share a placenta (and even moreso those who share a sac) have a lot more risks during the pregnancy. So, that she safely carried and birthed TWO sets of shared-placenta twins is quite amazing and lucky for them all.
