DS has been toilet trained for around 12 months- it was very easy at the time, into undies within about 2 weeks of starting and barely any accidents since then ( maybe once a month). Dry at night 3-4 months after that.
Over the past month he has suddenly started having accidents during the day (nothing at night), but around 4-5 per day. He is pretty good at kindy (he goes 2 days per week) but terrible at home. It is not just a little leak, but seems to be a big gush! We went through a terrible TT experience with our older son, and we remember him having lots of accidents when he was really 'busy' at play, and would simply be so engrossed in his game he left it till the last minute (too late!). There was not such a large gap of time though... To make matters worse, he is really smelly down there, not like a urine smell, but a BO type smell. I'm wondering if a UTI might cause these things? Or is this developmentally normal? There have been no changes at home, kindy, etc to cause him anxiety so I'm not sure what else it could be. Hello!
A UTI can cause the smell and the incontinence, esp if it is a rapid onset. I'd see a GP to be sure, may require antibiotics. |

DS2, almost 3, started having accidents a couple of weeks ago after TTing with barely any. It turned out to be a UTI and required antibiotics.
I'd take him to the GP. |

He is thirsty? Drinking / Eating more than usual?
It could be a UTI - but it could also be Type 1 Diabetes ( or anything else). If at any point during the week end he becomes lethargic I'd take him straight to the emergency room. INSIST on your GP checking his blood glucose or at the very least testing his urine for sugar. |
