So I just Googled the first and middle name of my soon-to-born child. Turns out that there's a jailed sex offender with the name... just reversed and my kid's middle name is actually this guy's last name.

I go to Google images and there are loads of mugshots of American offenders... none of them have the exact name of my child - they are all reversed.

So, to give an example:

My kid will be Harrison James Lastname (First, middle)

The offenders are all James Harrison (First, last)

Would this be a problem for you? have you ever Googled your kids' names and found some things that you didn't like? Would it stop you from using the name?

My DH (full name) shares a name with convicted murderer in the US.

No it would not bother me unless it was the name of a sex shop.

Unless I was considering calling my child Charles Milles (Manson) or Catherine Margaret (Birnie), it wouldn't really bother me that much.

Obscure offender in the States? Who cares?

I discovered a while back that DD shares a name with a rather prolific US porn actress. I don't care.

Unless you are using a really unusual name you're going to find a bunch of folk with the same name. Some of them will be good, some not so much. shrug.gif

The sex offender had many Google pages of articles attributed to his capture, trial and jailing.

The mugshots were of American offenders. Many of them - just to make it clearer original.gif

Well, I guess that depends. Without the actual names, it's hard to tell.
