i seem to be posting almost every second day - so many thing going on with DD!
DD (6mo) has one tooth and one just about to come through, and since the first once arrived she has been a little reluctant to eat solids. she cries when i put her in the high chair and hits the spoon away the first couple of attempts. then i let her play with the spoon while i do a couple of things and sometimes she will then let me feed her a bit. she was doing so well with solids but now has reduced what she's eating by a fair bit. she'll take milk fine and has started drinking boiled water from a bottle too. after today's attempts i thought perhaps she is starting to chew and the sharp new tooth is hurting her top gum. has anyone else experienced a regression in eating? will she grow out of it or do i put teething gel on before meals? thanks |

It can be painful for them to chew when teeth are coming through - DS would go off his food unless it was cold munchy things like celery or cucumber.
A bit of teething gel helped a bit, but he still wasn't overly keen. Once the tooth came through he tucked back in straight away. |

For my DD it was teething gel and Nurofen before meals. She went through a lot of pain with teething.

I think it is very normal for bubs to go off their food when they are teething. DS is 14mo and eats huge amounts normally. He has a terrible weekend with teeth (we can see 6 coming through
Just remember they just feel a bit rubblish. So pretty normal to not feel like eating. |

We did mostly baby-led solids, so yes DS was about 6 or 7 months old when he was chewing on celery and cucumber sticks. Loved them way more than those tasteless teething rings.
Cold slices of mango are hilarious to watch them eat, if you can ignore the mess |

My DS goes off food a little when teething (just got his fourth tooth through on the weekend, not much food eaten the previous two days).
He LOVES frozen fruit puree in one of those mesh feeder things - I cook up apple, puree and freeze in ice cube trays. I sometimes use them in his meals or give him one in the mesh feeder as dessert. Takes him ages to suck on it, gives us time to run his bath and start dinner |

Yes I think that's fine, as long as you're watching her. She's not likely to bite a chunk off, but it will just be nice and cold to gnaw on. Cucumber and capsicum is also great. My DD is 8 months and has just got her first tooth through....she is TOTALLY off her food. Occasionally I can get a few spoonfuls of yogurt in but nothing else. A whole bowl of weetbix got pushed out of my hand yesterday. All over the table, the floor, her and me. I was thrilled!!!! |
