Felix was the forerunner but I couldn't figure out what you'd call him for short.
So what do you think of Barnaby?

Not that I liked it much in the first place, but it has been completely and utterly ruined for me by Barnaby Joyce. That man makes my skin crawl and my blood boil simultaneously.

I'm not a huge fan of Felix but it's 1000x better than Barnaby.

Neither of them are really my style, but I prefer Felix as well. I too went straight to Barnaby Joyce, but I daresay most of your DS's peers would never have any idea who he is when he is growing up, only their parents.

I would go with Felix. It doesn't need a nn. Barnaby will always get a response, but it might not be the one you are after.

First thing I think of is Barnaby Joyce like PP's which is not a good thing. I really like Felix, doesn't matter if it doesn't have any particular NN's associated with it. Friends of my parents have a Felix and I'm sure I have heard him called a NN that has something to do with the name, I can't for the life of me remember what is is though.

I love Barnaby, nn Barney! But then again this baby will be Frederick (Fred) if a boy so maybe that's just my style - Flinstones biggrin.gif

In all seriousness though, I really do like old fashioned names and think Barnaby is a winner.

I really like Barnaby. I think it's very cute. I tend to like old-fashioned names, though.

Felix is nice too.

I like Barnaby. My best friend in PS had a brother Barnabas which I also like.

I have a nephew Barnaby, NN Barney. He's 40 and always liked his name.

I think it's a great name but Felix is too. I don't see why Felix needs a NN. Same number of syllables as Barney.

Ditto to alternative Barnabas. Pretty cool!
