DS is going on a school sports trip. Their bus is stopping for food on the way to their accommodation. No doubt at a fast food joint. DS hates fast food. Also he'll need breakfast which isn't provided. So I need some meal ideas for him with the following criteria..

Food must be able to survive 1/2 a day at school and then a few hours on a bus.

Accommodation has a full kitchen BUT I don't want him cooking anything when he'll be in silly mode with equally silly mates. Microwave is an option.

Needs to be healthy no rubbish.

Any ideas? I'm drawing a blank. huh.gif

Does he like soup or pasta that you could cook and have in a warmed thermos. You can pick up a few sizes so that way you can have a couple in his backpack that he could have on the road.

I would make a breakfast wrap with egg bacon etc in a lovely wrap my son loves them when we have to travel for sports games in a town further away. He doesn't mind it cold, in a thermal bag with ice block.

Can you check if the place has a toasted sandwich machine? Then maybe bread and baked beans if he likes them or similar non perishable fillings like tuna. That could be for both breakfast and dinner options.

Other ideas...

Dinner: 90 sec rice pouch, a packet if those steam in bag veggies, can of tuna (i like plain but you can use tge flavoured ones) Mix and enjoy.

Breakfast: single serve cereal box, small tetra pack milk, apple or banana.

Does he like porridge for breakfast? Those individual microwave sachets are good, made with UHT milk with a tin of fruit.

Ok, good so far, pasta in a thermos, or even just a container he can microwave.
Cooler bag great idea! He doesn't like tinned/ pouches of food. Which is a usually good... rolleyes.gif lol.
So ham n cheese toasty, box of cereal and about a kilo of apples I think!
I might make some sausage rolls he can heat up for everyone.

More ideas?

What are the other kids doing for breakfast?

You can buy single bowls of cereal at coles & woolworths instead of sending him off with a box.

Zip lock sandwich bags can be used to put a serving of cereal in. A 250 ml container of UHT milk, and you are good to go for breakfast. Muesli bars, although not healthy, could be a good alternative, or even used as emergency rations.
A packet of dip to mix with the pasta, like the wattle valley range is yummy, it be sure to zip lock them, as even when sealed, they can leak.
Would he be happy with a few sandwiches, or rolls, already made, for dinner, then he doesn't have to worry about cooking and cleaning up?
