DH is teasing me as I have nearly finished our xmas shopping for this year (as well as the birthdays we have, and the kids summer clothes for next summer)
I was lucky to be in the shops during the end of season clearances, and scored some bargains for both clothes and quite a few toys (found a Crayola activity box down to $5 instead of $40!)

Is there such a thing as TOO organised?

*I may be a slight hoarder and I think this is his problem, as I just cleared out the spare room, now its full again*

Well if it works it's fine. I can totally see buying clothes for younger kids working.

Presents for older kids, that's a bit more needing to be flexible. We used to have the situation where any huge lego set we bought on markdown was shiny but I can assure you now that what they want in terms of lego in January is not what they want in December.

I think that is isn't a bad thing as long as you don't go out and buy more stuff closer to the birthdays or Christmas.
It is super crazy organised but if you find a bargain as if your going to leave it original.gif

buying the kids clothes for next summer.. I will be doing exactly that when I have my own children, why would you not when everything is on sale. Yes a couple of the fashions will change but you can buy the basics.

If you consider the cost of storing those things for 10 or so months, and they don't encroach on your life NOW, and you still come out ahead, then I think it's fine.
How much are your housing costs per square/cubic metre over that time? Multiply by the amount of space needed to store these things. Obviously this is just one facet of your question you could consider.

I made this mistake last Winter. Bought a ton of 00 sized clothes for DD as that is the 'average' clothing size for her age & now at 1 she is only in 00s! Big waste of $$ for me sad.gif

OP I will admit only an hour ago I was looking in last years toy catalogue to see what I can get DD for Christmas & her bday next year (she only had her 1st bday yesterday lol). My problem would be buying it all now and then buying more at the time in excitement. I have already bought her a Baby Born as they were marked down below $40 with bonus clothing. We have a garage and 2x spare rooms so storage is not an issue

we've had the opposite - we pretty much skipped the 00s (birth at 000s, then straight to 0s) and hes not even 6 months yet! (DD was in 00s for ages too)

I'd say a little, but because I'd never do my kids shopping this early because 10 months is a long time for their tastes and interests to change and what they'd like right now may at the beginning of the year may not be what they'll like in December.

No such thing as too organised. I have always shopped for Christmas early (not as early as you wink.gif and my eldest is 16 and it has never backfired. But then we don't tend to do really trendy latest toy stuff so it isn't an issue.
