DS is nearly 2.5. I started TT him in January. He was pretty quick with wees and only has the occasional accident. No.2s are another story.
So, he was wearing a sleep nappy (day and night sleeps) and would do his poo at this time. He's started to do them in his undies (when we're at home thank god) and now when he's in his sleep nappy he pulls it to the side and does a wee in his bed. It's driving us mental cos we're constantly changing the sheets. I'm not too fussed about the poos cos I know lots of kids have a bit of difficulty with this but it's the wees in the bed that are disturbing me at the moment. Do you think I should bite the bullet, put him to bed in undies and just be prepared for ten visits before he goes to sleep at night? Thanks for any advice or help. |

The poos I can kinda help, the wees not as much. With Eamon, he is a very visual person, so describing the poo (in the water) worked a treat, as did snack bribes at the start. This might seem gross but I'd say things like "big brown poo goes splash in the water"...he seemed to respond to that and would get excited when he heard the splash. The days sleeps and weeing in bed, not sure how to stop it but you can get puppy training pads that a very absorbent with a plastic backing. You could lie that on top of the bed sheet so the wee doesn't go to the sheet....it doesn't make that crinkly noise and they are large enough to hold a wee.
Eamon has been toilet trained for about 4 months now and he still wears a nappy at night time. Somedays in the morning it is dry other times it is wet. He has never pulled the nappy to one side though so not sure about that for you. |

Most of the experts dont recommend taking away a day nappy until 3 (and night training after that). There are of course exceptions to every rule. My guess about the weeing in bed is that he knows he's not supposed to wee in his nappy, has to go wee so moves it off to the side to do his wee. He may or may not be totally conscious when he does this (so if you were to put him into underpants he may just wee in them anyways).

I'd keep him in a nappy for sleeps but put some clothing over it that does not allow him to pull it to the side as easily. Some kind of a sleep suit or something might work?
