We are about to move in to our new house and want to ge tthe fencing up asap due to our young children. 2x of the blocks that will share a fence with ours have not sold yet. the were originlly owen by Hamra homes who did the developmet in that area, but apparently they have gone under ans ANZ has now taken them over to sell if that make sense?
Do we have any hope of getting money for that share of the fence? If so how?
TIA

We are now a family of four! Girls rule the roost!
Sorry couldnt be sure from your post, but are the blocks vacant or do they have houses on them.

In WA I thought from memory that you couldnt claim any fence from the neighbours until a home had been built and then you had to give them so long to pay. So the first one gets all the expense but you claim it back as people build around you.

If you search for dividing fences and your state in google you should be able to find the relevant laws that apply.

When we built in the ACT we paid the full cost of fencing upon moving in. We billed the neighboring blocks for their share once their slab was laid, as per the fencing regulations.

If you contact your council or planing authority they should be able to tell you the rules for your area.

You can claim once substantial builidng work has been done on the vacant block.

If you google Fencing rights and responsibilities you will find online a booklet which tells you all about fencing and what you need to do including samples of letters to send.
