I need to get a new pram and am trying to choose between getting one with the double kit or just a buggy or skateboard for my older child. My 3 year old gets really tired and does need to rest sometimes when we walk but doesnt like to sit for the whole trip (usually).

Our area though is very rough. No footpaths, gravel and rocky patches, steep hills and so on. The boards seem to me like they might not be the safest option but havent ever seen them or used one in action.
Does anyone have any experience with using them in those kind of conditions?

Yes, I have the BJ buggy board and it is definitely not suitable for rough terrain. It's absolutely great for shopping centres etc. but once it's on uneven surfaces (e.g. a footpath) it bumps around like crazy and my DS (2.5) prefers to walk because he finds it hard to hold himself on during the rough ride.

Would definitely recommend it for shopping centres but I'd get a double pram for walking (which I have and use daily).

I have a buggy board on my double pram and would only use it on footpaths/indoors etc. It's really not suitable for rough terrain.

I've got the Lascal Maxi board on the back of my MB Urban. I make DS1 get off for even small kerbs or steps.

I took it over gravel in the past week. It was a well made path, but gravel, and he really had to hold on. I worry that if we hit a big bump he'd bang his teeth or head on the bar he's hanging on to.

I also find the weight distribution to make it really hard work going up even a slight hill with my 3 month old in the pram and a hefty toddler on the buggy board.

I love the buggy board and we're using it a lot, but it's definitely not for long walks on rough terrain.
