With DS I didn't start using MCNs until he was 3 weeks old after all tr me indium had passed. I remember the meconium in his disposables was like tar and really hard to wipe off his skin (not sure if it was just his meconium or if all meconium is like this).
This time I am considering using MCNs from birth but was wondering how hard it is to wash meconium out of MCNs? |

Very hard! It tends to stick like glue onto the nappies.
Any chance you can get flushable liners? I used disposables for about 4 days then straight into cloth once the meconium poo cleared out. |

Pulled an old thread to add that I cloth nappied my DS from birth, he had beautiful Sherpa side snap very babys and BBH bamboo fitteds- DH brang them to hospital and washed them for me each night. I just used flushable liners for the first week, they caught 80% of the gunk. A couple of nappies had marks along the gusset but that was nothing a bit of sun drying didnt fix.

Meconium should be out of the system after just a few days. There should be a transitional stool about day 3 and mostly yellow curds by day 5 so I would just use a disposable for that time frame or use a flushable liner as it does stain and is quite corrosive to the elastic around the legs.
