My DS is having a party tomorrow and all of our game ideas were based around being outside.......water balloons, silly string wars, water slide, pool, etc. It is raining, a lot. I need some quick ideas for things to do inside to keep 25 kids amused for 2 hours. I don't think silly string and water balloons are ideal for the lounge room!

Is it too late to ring the parents and suggest the party guests bring a change of clothes and their gumboots?

I think a 'playing outside in the rain' party would be epic!

Cripes - why did you invite 25 children? That really does make inside games difficult doesn't it...

See, that sounds great to me!! Do other parents feel the same? Our backyard has about 4 inches of water sitting on it, perfect for jumping in puddles.

I invited his class, expecting about 50% to come....well we have nearly a full turn out plus a couple of siblings. I was stupidly thinking it would be fine as they could just slide and swim and be easily entertained. I hate parties!

Could you maybe do pass the parcel and pin the tail first ( spaced apart) then a treasure hunt, maybe a cheap piñata and finally the outdoor splashing for the last half hour?
Good luck!

Save me Barry!
Is it warm? Because I don't see a lot of difference to splashing around in bathers on a water slide to splashing around in mud in bathers. But then, I am weird like that LOL

You could maybe let them splash around in the mud, wash them off on the water slide and then get them dressed and send them home

edited to add that I also really like this idea:

Indecision is the key to flexibility
What age group?

Other easy games that will fill in lots of time, and can be played multiple times include:

musical chairs (or mats - cut up some old sheets or towels into squares to use as the mats - easy to put out in a circle and pack up)

Musical statues

Dice game. Put 6 stations around the room numbered 1 to 6. Kids dance around and when music stops, they choose a number to stand at. Roll the dice, which ever number it lands on, those kids standing at that number are out.

Simon Says

Duck duck goose

Balloon games are great. Balloon relays where kids have to hold balloon between knees and waddle to other end of the room. there are lots more. Google some.

Make sure you have lots of bags of mini chocolate as prizes!

HTH

Good luck! Sounds like my idea of hell... wink.gif

The best party my DS ever had was in the rain. We had already decided it would be a messy party with slime and water balloons and egg throwing and such. The rain, when it wasn't torrential, just added to the fun. They had a blast. Kids still talk about it 5 years later.

Thanks for the suggestions! They are 6 year olds, so full of energy and silliness! It is only raining lightly now, maybe it will clear??

Do you know anyone that can do face painting. I had 25 kids at dd last birthday and this was the most popular thing. They also gathered around while others were getting their faces done. That should kill about an hour.
