I'm 8 weeks pregnant and conceived using clomid. My hormone levels are very high and the doctor suggested it is likely to be twins. He is also testing for down syndrome and now I'm worried the high levels indicate down syndrome and not twins. My ultrasound is in 2 weeks time. Did anyone else have high levels in early pregnancy and how did it turn out?

What were your levels & at what DPO?

Were you monitored during your cycle to check for follicle numbers?

I'm pretty sure my follicle numbers weren't monitored. At 7 weeks my levels were 150000 when the median range was 25000. This is my first pregnancy so I'm fairly clueless at the moment.

If a cat doesn't like you, then what's wrong with you?
I had high HCG levels for both pregnancies (although with DS they were a lot higher) but neither turned out to be twins.

I had very high HCG levels in my first pregnancy and high HCG in my second pregnancy. My first pregnancy was twins and my second was a singleton. Tere was initially no concerns with my second pregnancy regarding DS but then my high HCG and low papp-a gave me a high DS risk, my beautiful little boy is nine months old and does not have DS.

Good luck, I hope you have a happy healthy baby (or babies) in your arms in 7 months original.gif

Very high HCG in first pregnancy - like, the average range for triplets!!! = Twins

This time around, had almost identical HCG levels = singleton.

No DS.

Good luck. How come you are waiting till 10 weeks for your scan? We had an early scan at 7 weeks last time which confirmed it, and again this time had a scan at 6 weeks (due to prolonged bleeding) which showed one hb.

They are average levels at 7wks or around 35dpo.

Why is your Dr making you wait another 2wks if s/he thinks it's twins? A standard IVF BFP cycle is normally scanned at 7wks, so I'd be request one if I were you. Then again, I would have made sure I was monitored, but that's just me.

Actually it's a little longer for the scan. It's requested for between 11-14 weeks which I've read is the standard here in Australia. Thanks for all the comments!
