Some may remember the post by a member not long ago about how her families possessions were stolen while in transit by the removalists.

She mentioned that the police had basically told her that she had to chase it up with the company and it really wasn't their juristiction. Thankfully she was able to locate her possessions even though some where damaged.

Now in the above story, wine has been stolen supposedly by the transport company that has gone into liquidation.

It clearly states that the police are investigating.

So why are they investigating this but can't be bothered with the little people??? Seems like double standards.

I was staggered when the poster told her story that the police could not help.

It's not fair. But it may be a case of 12 plaintiffs vs 1.

This involves wine, the other case didn't.

I'm not being entirely serious, but that's what my inner cynic says, anyway.

This happened to us though - our removalist outsourced our job but didn't pay the guy who actually moved our stuff, so he refused to deliver it. Police could do nothing as we'd given it over willingly - we would have had to sue him to get it back but thankfully it didn't come to that.
This case appears different because of the $ value, the whereabouts of the wine appears unknown and I would say the wineries have formally retracted their permission for the transport company to have possession of their goods and that's when it becomes theft. (I sought legal advice when our stuff was withheld).

The OP didn't know where her property was either. It was only through her own investigations and the goodwill of one Officer that helped solve the issue.

It is different from the removalist story. The doesn't sound like the transport co stole the wines, it sounds like somebody stole it from the truck (ie heist). The difference being the Wine company had a contract with the transport company and a third party stole it. The EB poster had a contract with the removalist, they didn't deliver, no third party .
