Hi,

I am an exclusive expresser for my 12 week old. My Pump In Style Breastpump has died this morning and I need a new one urgently.

I need an electric and prefer double pumping. I don't want to spend too much as my expressing is beginning to wind back (although perhaps a machine that is operating correctly might produce more milk!), but can afford to spend if needed.

Can anyone suggest a pump that they would recommend? Looking to purchase today.

TIA

Regards
Bronnie

If you are exclusively pumping and want a double pump, maybe look at hiring a hospital grade pump? They are a bit more heavy duty and you might find they help to pump more efficiently and might help with supply. Good luck.

I've got the Medela Freestyle wub.gif I also hear good reports about the Ameda Purely Yours double pump too.

I'm with the PP - hire one for now, then give yourself a few weeks to get sorted with a new one. original.gif

edit: I just remembered that Medela have a Double Swing pump that is cheaper than the freestyle which might suit your needs? I'm also led to believe you can get the normal Medela Swing and convert it to a double with some tubing?

I second hiring a hospital grade (the MedelaSymphony is great) one for immediate use.

In terms of purchasing, I had the Medela Frestyle and used it almost exclusively from 3 months to 12 months - I thought it was great, only issue I had was the battery (still worked plugged in) which was easily replaced under warrantt

Hospital pumps are fantastic! Nothing else compares. I've rented them at various times from my local chemist - the rates get more reasonable the longer you rent. Might be worth it for speed and convenience if you're winding back.

Contact your hospital or ABA, they hire brilliant Medula electric pumps. I also exclusively expressed for 3 months & this thing made my life bearable! I think we paid about $10 a week ...

Thanks for the replies - I ended up purchasing a double Medela Swing. I don't know how long my expressing journey will last, so would prefer to have my own rather than hire, but thanks for the suggestion.

On the bright side, this new one seems much easier to clean than the old one wink.gif There has to be a silver lining!
