Hi all

Just wanted to know if there are settings on a D-Link modem/router that you can block access etc at certain times of the day or night. Kids all have IPADS or laptops and unless I have them all bring them to me at bedtime they are on the net yakking to friends until they are busted. I was told you can limit the access by putting in time limits etc but I'm not sure if thats on the wifi router or their computers. On a IPAD I'm not sure you can even do anything as far as limiting access.

The router has a small wifi button on the back which we are turning off at night, but sometimes when we turn it back on it stuffs up and we need to completely reset the modem which is a PITA.

Any suggestions?

I would just insist the electronics are kept out of the bedrooms at night. Set up a charging station by the router or something. It'll be easier than trying to fiddle with settings.

Yes it can be done, we have it set up so the kids have their own access to it (without them actually knowing any passwords)each and we turn it off when we decide its time, and then put the others child's access into "hidden" when its their turn to go tot bed ( they have a diff' sleep times), it does not interfere with our access at all, all done via a website.

I got DP to implement a ban in work hours a few months ago when I felt my EBing was getting out of control!

log-in as an admin to the router and change the password. change it back later.

I have a Netgear and the router is always changing id on the user.

A simple solution and ensure they kids learn the responsibility of returning electronics, have 1 local charge place in the house! Might save on the fights over which charger belongs to who as well

I know how to do it on my BoB2 modem and some of it might be similar for the DLINK, first you need to find the MAC address of each device and put them in as allowed devices then you need to set rules for when each device can connect. It's not difficult but it can be time consuming however you only need to do it once.

Do you have an iPhone, if yes I would be installing find my iPhone, that way you can lock the iPad with a password via the lost mode I have to do it my ds otherwise he would've on it all night.
