Any suggestions for dinner in Canberra? We're here for 2 nights, staying at the Mantra on Northbourne ave, and have a one year old and two year old. Also have a car so can travel. Any cuisine, just something yum!

Thanks!!

There is a new restaurant called smoque in civic in baileys arcade just off London circuit.
It is American BBQ so has brisket, pulled pork, ribs, burgers. It opens at 5.30 and sells out quickly so get in early. I had it today for lunch and am having leftovers for dinner tonight yummy.

An amazing Turkish restaurant right around the corner. Massive servings of great food. Standing on Northbourne out the front of Mantra, turn left, walk to lights and it's diagonal from those lights.

Sorry I don't remember the name.

Flavours of India in Garema Place, Civic (upstairs) is delicious. Otherwise Dickson is a short drive and has a massive range of Asian restaurants.

We stay in that strip of hotels regularly. Walk down to the Canberra centre - there's a strip of restaurants at the end closest to Northbourne Ave. We always have dinner at Sammy Kitchen which is really good Chinese. It opens at 5pm and its fast too. Prefect with small children! It is always busy.

La Posada opposite the post office is our favourite - incredible Italian food and quite family friendly

Been cuddling everyone else's babies now I want my own!
Another vote for Sammy's kitchen. It is a real Canberra institution, it s super fast and yummy but you can't really linger as they will rush you a bit. Behind your hotel is Braddon with lots of groovy places to eat like Italian &sons, a great Thai near beaurepairs, great pizzas at a bar called debacle etc. Have fun!
