I will be having my 3rd section in 10 weeks and I don't want to stay in hospital longer than needed, how long was your stay after a section?

With DD2 it was 4 days and they tried to make me stay for another day and DD3 was 3 or 4 days. I am using a different hospital this time and i'm hoping I can go after 2 days.

Whats the shortest section stay you have had or heard of?

if its public its normally a 48 hour stay.....you may get away with a 24 hour stay,,,

you need to be able to walk around afterwards

I know of someone who checked herself out the day after her section .... They didn't like it but she had good help at home and didn't want to be there. They can't force you to stay you know!

I think 3 days is the norm at my local public hospital though.

My hospital has a 4 day stay for vaginal births & 5 days for c-sections.
I happily use the 5 day stay - no pushing me out sooner!!

3 days for three out of four children
Exception was number three as he was in NICU for 7 days.
I discharged when he did.

Not the case at all elmo_mum.
The only women who go home post C/S at 48 hours in the public system are those who want to and are well enough to.
Most C/S women will go home day 4 or 5 but OP if you are well then there is probably not going to be any problem with early discharge.

I left the next day with DD, she was my second CS, they said as long as my bladder was working and I had help at home that was fine.

I was only in hospital for 32 hours, (including waiting time before CS) and I would have left earlier except I had to get DD checked over before I left and doctor took 4 hours to come!

I was walking well, didn't have much pain and DD took to breast feeding instantly, every thing just fell perfectly into place.

This was at Gosford Public Hospital, hope your birth goes just as well, good luck.

My public hospital is 3 days. Last time I went private and was in for 7 because I had a nasty infection.

I stayed in 48 hours after my last CS (my 4th) and hope to do the same with this baby due in August.
Once I've had the baby I like to get back home asap. Had a pph for my 3rd CS so had to stay in longer.
