I had a FBC done last week and my GP said my platelets are a little low, and will need monitoring to see if it's a downward trend.
Has anyone had similar? Any implications for the pregnancy, baby or birth? |

I have had low platelet counts with my pregnancies. Because that can cause clotting issues I wasn't able to have an epidural (increases associated risks) which would have been fine if I had not required a c-section. I ended up having my first two kids under general which was pretty disappointing. Also higher risk of increased blood loss, which I had with my third, but they should monitor that fairly closely.
Speak to your OB/midwife and see what it means for you. It may be no issue at all for you. Good luck |

I did, but they were improved by the end of the pregnancy and no implications at the birth.

Thanks ladies.
I start t the hospital clinic next week (have just been diagnosed with GD) so should see an OB then. I had read about the possibility of no epidural when I did some googling. I had an epidural with my first and was hoping to have another, especially if I am induced again (due to being insulin dependent). Fingers crossed mine don't continue to get any lower, they are currently at 145 and it seems there is no real concern until they drop under 100. |
