I have four children aged 7, 6, 4 and 18m.

Today while waiting to collect the older two from school the 4yo saw a friend walk past with her daughter and another child. DD asked: Is that x's big sister?"

I said no, x doesn't have any brother's or sisters, she is the only child in her family.

DD looked at me and said: "That's no good she doesn't have any brothers and sisters. I hope she isn't too sad."

It made me feel very warm and fuzzy that she appreciates her family...even if she doesn't like her siblings at times!!!

Awww, that's cute. I also have 4 children but they are all grown up now, and live in various parts of the country.
A few weeks ago, one of them got married and we all travelled interstate for his wedding, and it was he first time in a few years that they'd all been together.
It made me feel very warm and fuzzy when I saw the absolute delight they had in each others company, and being together and catching up. Lots of good humoured teasing, lots of laughs and giggles and none of those childhood spats that are long forgotten.

Aw, that is really sweet MamaBug.

And FiveAus, I love your story. That is the sort of thing that gets me through the bad days with my 4 - I imagine a Christmas Day in about 20 years time, and all the kids have travelled to my house, with partners, and we are all together and enjoying each other's company. Even if it only happens once, I will be the happiest mother ever!
