if I had one chance to freeze time I'd choose right now
My son is in year two this year and came home today with a sticker and said he got it for great maths work and he said he also got a mintie.

Those who know me know I have a bit of a thing about healthy eating, junk food and lollies, especially when it's kids.

My concern is that his teacher is using lollies as a treat reward when just the satisfaction of doing a good job, praise from his teacher and maybe a sticker should be enough!! NOT LOLLIES sad.gif

He started soccer this week and after the lesson the coach handed out snake lollies, ARGHHH!! We are trying to set a good food and exercise example and feel like I am being sabotaged at every turn as people 'in charge' try to fatten them up and give them cavities... sad.gif

Should I email the teacher with my concerns?

I wouldn't... I don't think one mintie is a big deal shrug.gif if you make it like lollies are forbidden it just increases their allure, IMO! What happens at birthday parties when the kids hand out lolly bags?

It is a mintie for gods sake. If he has an allergy to mint, then go ahead and have a whinge.

As for the snakes at soccer, get over it. Even at higher levels (premier league, state etc.) they have lollies, usually red frogs but snakes are another biggie. Especially at half time. They are not jeopardising your childs health or trying to undermine you.

I wouldn't, I definitely would not want to be that pita parent. Its a treat, a special treat for doing well. Its not a daily thing so he will be fine, sweets have their place in a diet. So long as he is taught it is a treat and not an everyday food I'm sure he will be just fine original.gif

Life must be barrel of sugar free fun at your place.
I totally think you should suck any joy or pleasure at your son's achievement out of the situation.

Hoover up the pride he feels at having his work recognised and consign it to the naughty bin!

Lollies are inherently evil!,

Edited to fix crap ipad typos.
