I was tidying up around the house, picked up one of my camera bags and feel something crawling up my arm.

Instead of calmly looking on my arm to see what it is, I turn into a ninja complete with hand movements, unfortunately for me I didn't have a good grip on my photography bag when I did this and what went flying through the air and landed with a clunk?

You guessed it, my camera bag complete with lenses....

I am too to check to see what the damage is. I am really hoping that the bag has enough cushioning to protect the lenses.

I hope everything is undamaged and all was protected by the bag. If it makes you feel any better, I dropped one of my lenses on a concrete footpath because I forgot it was in my pocket and I thought for sure it would be smashed. It's completely fine and still works perfectly. DH said he saw it actually bounce when it hit the floor, I don't know how it's not at least cracked!

Oh no Jupiter, was it in the Epiphanie bag? The padding in that is pretty good. Have you checked out to see if there is any damage?

I stepped out of the Kombi onto the road verge once, I was in the process of taking my EOS 7 (just to stress the catastrophe!) out of it's bag to photograph something.

Except it wasn't the verge.

It was the tops of some grass growing about 3 feet below.

I disappeared!

Fell down the bank, somersaulted a few times, hit every branch, log and spiky thing available and ended up shocked, bruised and bloodied and doing a great big waaaah waaah, about 60m down the bank!

I was broken, damaged and really embarrassed.

Camera?

Even though the bag was unzipped? It was fine!

Jupiter, have you checked, what's the damage? I hope there's none. For what its worth, I tend to shriek and throw things in the air too when I feel something crawling where it shouldn't be!

Countrymel! I'm sorry, I know I shouldn't laugh and I'm happy that you weren't badly hurt and your camera survived!

I've done the walking backwards peering through the viewfinder and disappearing over an embankment. Luckily it was only a short drop and I fell flat on my back onto sand, but still...

I think I am all good. Everything seems to be working as it should however I am still to check two of my lenses. Nothing rattles so that is a good sign lol

The equipment was in my backpack camera bag which is pretty padded and designed to cop a bit of brutality, I have taken it bush and out in the weather before and it's survived but I don't think it was really designed with being thrown in mind.

CM I'm sorry but the image in my head is too funny.

Oh and the damn thing crawling up my arm was one of those little german cockroaches. Dirty little b*st*rd got squashed quick smart.

Good to hear they are fine Jupiter! I hate those damn little cockroaches!

I have lost 2 lenses to falls from the cupboard & hitting the metal runners, seemed ok at first but then got worse & worse until they no longer worked .

I just bought a new camera & several new lenses plus a well padded lowepro backpack, great to have working gear again!
