We are thinking of Danika or Danica for a girls name
Just wanted to get some help with understanding how each spelling is pronounced, and whether there are different cultural origins for the variations? I *think* we want to pronounce it da-nee-ka (dah-knee-ka?) - I'm not very good with reading/writing the way to pronounce names! There's so many rubbish name sites out there, I'm not sure where to look for info! Thanks |

I believe it is a Hebrew name...
I grew up with a Danica... she pronounces it the way you would Da-nee-kah. |

For me Danica is [dah-NIT-sah]. I taught several in my time who hailed from Serbia and Croatia. I'm no expert though.
Danika for me is [DAN-i-kah]. I have heard the rendition with the 'knee' and it does not appeal. This post has been edited by Gudrun: 11/02/2013, 10:35 PM |
