Just wanted to let you know a good story here.. (sorry for the long post!). I had bleeding from about 6.5wks, (tmi ahead) it ranged from spotting to (most of the time) a light period. Sometimes there was mild cramping and I passed some small-medium clots. I had a medium bleed at 7wks and a big one at 12wks - very scary!! I was sure I'd lost this baby about 3 times. However he is fine and I had close monitoring (weekly scans) from about 7-13wks, then less often. The bleeding slowly eased after the 12wk haemorrhage and completely stopped by about 24wks thankfully. Now I'm considered a normal low risk patient, despite my age
. My NT scan came back as very low risk. Bubby is apparently very healthy and has been oblivious to all the drama!
In my case it was a subchorionic haematoma (blood clot in the uterus) which bled out rather than reabsorbing. I also have a low-lying placenta which may have added to the bleeding, possibly. I had far less bleeding with my previous m/c (just some pink spotting).
Hang in there OP, your bub may be ok yet! One thing I felt really helped me was to rest, rest, rest!! If I overdid things, sure enough I would bleed more.. My DP had some time off work to help with our 3yo DD and housework/cooking, and I really took it easy. No housework, no lifting, no sex
, no fish/Omega 3's as I was eating loads beforehand which can thin the blood and therefore increase bleeding and no exercise apart from incidental walking (I really miss my swimming and yoga). My OB strongly recommended all of this. The house and garden has suffered but I don't overly care! I figured it was only for a short period of time in the scheme of things but so worth the effort, then if I lost the bub I'd look back knowing I'd done all I could reasonably do to hold onto this bub, the rest was out of my hands.
I wish you all the best with this pregnancy OP, bleeding like this can have a good outcome. Gets lots of reassurance scans if you need to. When you start to feel bub moving, you'll start to feel less worried (I did). Please take it very gently and rest up - you have a very good excuse to! Good luck at your OB appt later this week
