hi there,

Sorry for the gross subject heading... Im normally a very squirmy person... but at 10weeks pg... Im quickly getting over it!

So I have clots in my uterus. I've had 3 episodes since 6 weeks of large gushes of blood and passing clots ... and am currently experiencing my forth episode now one after going for a light walk on the treadmil at the gym! (*Guilts!*)

I bleed heavy for a few hrs and pass large clots. No pain huh.gif

I have my first Ob-Gyn appointment late this week - however I just spoke to her on the phone and she said no yoga, no walking, no working, no picking anything up... bed rest.

I was wondering if anyone has had a similar type of bleeding / clotting in their first trimester and had a successful pregnancy?

Each time it happens I feel like I'm going to MC.

I'd like to hear good and bad stories... would be better to hear the good stories though ;-)

Thanks original.gif unsure.gif

Whenever I have bleed in pregnancy the outcome has not been that great BUT having said that I have read loads and loads of stories on EB where ladies have had very similar situations as you have described and then have gone on to have a healthy baby at the end of it.

Hang in there OP, I hope some ladies with positive stories start replying soon original.gif

6 pregnancies I have had bleeding, and of the ones I have bled with only 1 of them I have carried to full term. I would probably be taking it easy.

It sounds like you have a subcutaneous hematoma? I have one too, a small one. I've only had one small bleed. They are common & even though many people bleed they are not usually an issue. My ob said that bed rest had not been shown to improve outcome but if it makes you feel better then do it lol.

I bled in the first trimester during three of my pregnancies. Only the last one made it.

I would definitely advise taking it easy. It is possibly a good sign that you have bled and remained pregnant. When I lost the first two pregnancies, the bleeding started slowly and then increased and did not stop until I miscarried.

I had a subchronic hematoma with the pregnancy (twins) which bled out during my first pregnany. Please do go on partial bed rest and take it easy, it does make a difference. I too over did it and remember the bright red blood gushing everywhere.

My pregnancy and ending was a good story although at the time I thought there was no way they would both make it.

Take care.

Just wanted to let you know a good story here.. (sorry for the long post!). I had bleeding from about 6.5wks, (tmi ahead) it ranged from spotting to (most of the time) a light period. Sometimes there was mild cramping and I passed some small-medium clots. I had a medium bleed at 7wks and a big one at 12wks - very scary!! I was sure I'd lost this baby about 3 times. However he is fine and I had close monitoring (weekly scans) from about 7-13wks, then less often. The bleeding slowly eased after the 12wk haemorrhage and completely stopped by about 24wks thankfully. Now I'm considered a normal low risk patient, despite my age original.gif. My NT scan came back as very low risk. Bubby is apparently very healthy and has been oblivious to all the drama!

In my case it was a subchorionic haematoma (blood clot in the uterus) which bled out rather than reabsorbing. I also have a low-lying placenta which may have added to the bleeding, possibly. I had far less bleeding with my previous m/c (just some pink spotting).

Hang in there OP, your bub may be ok yet! One thing I felt really helped me was to rest, rest, rest!! If I overdid things, sure enough I would bleed more.. My DP had some time off work to help with our 3yo DD and housework/cooking, and I really took it easy. No housework, no lifting, no sex sad.gif, no fish/Omega 3's as I was eating loads beforehand which can thin the blood and therefore increase bleeding and no exercise apart from incidental walking (I really miss my swimming and yoga). My OB strongly recommended all of this. The house and garden has suffered but I don't overly care! I figured it was only for a short period of time in the scheme of things but so worth the effort, then if I lost the bub I'd look back knowing I'd done all I could reasonably do to hold onto this bub, the rest was out of my hands.

I wish you all the best with this pregnancy OP, bleeding like this can have a good outcome. Gets lots of reassurance scans if you need to. When you start to feel bub moving, you'll start to feel less worried (I did). Please take it very gently and rest up - you have a very good excuse to! Good luck at your OB appt later this week hhugs.gif

Hi,
I had a bleed in my early 2nd trimester at 14 weeks. It bleed heavily quickly, but then went brown and had brown discharge for a few days. I went straight to emergency that day after talking to my midwife and the nurse there found a heartbeat. A follow up scan then showed the baby perfectly fine and no evidence for why I bled. The said I may have had a SCH but they weren't sure.

Factors which may have lead to my bleed were:-
* Having a posterior placenta (wasn't told at my NT scan 6 days prior and was waiting for my GP follow up appointment)
* Went to the gym the day before for 60 mins. Only did brisk walking but may have triggered something
* Carried heavy shopping bags up two flight of stairs just prior to the bleed
* DTD with DH for such a short period of time in the morning prior

At the early pregnancy assessment unit I wasn't told that I needed bed rest. They said that there's no evidence that bed rest will save a pregnancy if there is something wrong and was even told that going back to work straight away may help me (?). But I chose bed rest anyway and things turned out ok.

I have had no bleeding since and the baby is doing fine. But ever since I've been a bit on edge about everything. I've had a MC before and I was really scared that this would be the same, but worse because we'd only just got into the 'safe' zone of the 2nd trimester and met our baby on the ultrasound 6 days before. But thankfully everything has been absolutely fine so far.
