York? York District High School?

Can anyone give me any feedback on living in York with a young family? Any feedback in particular on the school? Would anyone know if there are any private music teachers in town, plus what sort of other activities are available for kids? Thanks P.S. oliboli, if you are reading this, I still can't seem to read your message!

It's a great school - i used to wprk with it. there is playgroup & toy library in town. swimming lessons in feb/march. a brilliant toy library and mainly music in Northam 25mins away

I would look elsewhere for yrs 11 and 12 than Northam. Not a great school. My sister lives in Toodyay and the high school in Toodyay only goes to yr 10 and she has sent all 3 girls down to boarding school in Perth for yrs 10-12.

My daughter started at York DHS last year (we live 20 mins from York). Fantastic school!!! It only goes to Year 10 (this could be changing though). My older children did year 11 and 12 at Northam, with no problems. There are other options for 11 and 12, including Private at Northam. The school bus travels from York - Northam. York have pony club, swimming club, a fantastic motorcycle track, cadets (for older kids), Hockey, football, netball, and I'm sure, probably much more. Thanks for the replies Red Cabbage, that is awesome to hear! Do you mind me asking what year she is in? DD will be in Year 4, DS will be in kindy.

Year 7, she moved over from our local school because of their awesome special ed support unit. Best move ever.
